ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO

April 27, 2007

Unicron is awesome! This is our post-contest game dev blog, where we will ROCK YOUR FACES with our games. You’ll see that each game has a category where we post about it.

We’ll all leave comments in this post to introduce ourselves, how’s that sound?

Hi, I’m Shreyas, and I posted as misterduck in the Game Chef forum.

I’m an Indian guy and sort of a hobbyist anthropologist, amateur gourmet, artist for love and artist for money. I write games about myth and culture. My game this year, Sacred Bone, is nominally about the art of rulership, but really, it’s about understanding how thin cultural barriers really re, if we bother trying to break them.

Hey, I’m Adam Rappold and I posted as DirkGently in the Game Chef forum (also on Story Games and RPG.net).

I had been working for the ‘Man’ (in the form of the state government) but I got bored with that so I am headed to New Orleans and graduate school to study Classics (a doctorate in ‘useless studies’ if you will).

I really enjoy participating in the act of ‘creation’ be it artistic (although I suck at everything but oil painting), scholarly, video games (so much programming…), or RPG related.

My games (with the exception of my Game Chef entry this year) tend to be about the differences between genres and usually involve a conflict between different types of stories

  3. ptevis Says:

Hi, I’m Paul Tevis, and I’m a compulsive gamer.

I’m an expatriate Midwesterner living in Southern California with my wife and out three cats. By day, I write software for industrial automation. By night, I game. I also host two gaming podcasts: Have Games, Will Travel & The Voice of the Revolution. My other big interest right now is improvisational theatre, which I’ve only been actively involved with for a few months but which has rapidly taken over my brain and schedule. My entry, A Penny For My Thoughts, is my first attempt at stealing things from improv and bringing them back with me to gaming.

Hi, I’m Kynn. I live in Tucson, Arizona, and I like photography. I’m a part-time journalist.

  5. dogui Says:

Hi, I´m Guido Quaranta, but Dogui anywhere in the internet. I´m in Argentina, Buenos Aires more specifically.

I like playing games. I am an RPG addict and a console gamer.
I paint miniature figures for money and out of love. I´m what you´ll call a wargamer, but I don´t play that much. You can see my stuff at http://www.baminis.com.ar

I got into the whole Forge scene about two years ago and I´ve been silently reading everything I could get my hands on, till now. Game Chef had a perfect timing, and I was ready to give design a try. Hence, Silent Archaea.

I am trying to make a life out of art. I am studying comic art and have some illustrations online at http://guidoq.deviantart.com/
I´d love to do art for Unicronites. Even if you cannot pay for it!

My objective is to get to know more about the people in the design scene, for they seem like a very cool gang :)
I´d like to give Silent Archaea a few retouches and start some heavy playtesting. To really finish it is the objective.

Hello again, your weak link has returned like the phoenix if the phoenix was a dodo. I’ve only been making RPGs for about 8 months or a year or something. I kinda slipped into making them by accident so I don’t know the exact date. So far, (counted GC) I have 2 complete games, one being a 24 hour RPG which forced me to call it finished. And despite being third from last at GC I consider it a success since I did better than expected which was dead last. If you feel like punishing yourself, my 24 hour RPG is at 1km1kt.net, Santa vs. the Hippies. I also (although not at the moment) post at rpglaboratory.

  7. caesarx Says:

Hey, this is Chris Bennett AKA Caesar_X. I love playing games and I love making games. Both of which I get to do for a living and for a hobby. So I feel pretty lucky.

My Game Chef entry was pretty much unfinished, but I did get it “done” in two weeks which was a revelation for me. I’m currently working on ‘The Naked City: a game of Film Noir’ and I’m finally starting to solidify the rules somewhat.

  8. fredhicks Says:

This is Fred Hicks reporting in. I’m the author of Don’t Rest Your Head and I co-authored Spirit of the Century. My Game Chef Unicron entry was Schizonauts: The Mnemonic Conspiracy, and I’m terribly, terribly interested in seeing what I can do to get it publishable. I run Evil Hat Productions most of the time.

In other words, Hello, I’m Fred, I’m 35, and I have an addiction to designing games. :)

  9. Filip Says:

So, I posted in your “Let’s keep in touch” thread by mistake, certain it was in the general category. However, since Shreyas says I’m a honorary Unicron now, I’ll introduce myself anyway :)

I’m Filip Luszczyk, age 23, from Poland. I like games and I’m addicted to Anime. Also, I’m a compulsive designer (too bad it doesn’t help finishing projects, heh).
